❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 Not as keen on this book as others of Stephanie’s . It lacks chemistry in the characters romance. And the storyline is bitty, as well as I objected to the cruel way that the brother and sister treated their mum , she made a mistake. Back her up , show some respect, be there for her. In full the story was passable and intriguing, but I can’t even say I enjoyed it, I read it and I didn’t hate it . A bit nothing really . Sorry 😐

The 2 main characters Carl and Melissa were weak and pathetic whiney people. honestly if I had met a couple that were like them, I would've wanted to slap the shit out them just for the annoyance that they put me through. This was the weirdest most disjointed book I've ever read. The heroine is a little rich girl who can't say no. The hero is a whiny neurotic who relies too much on his little sister for support. How in the hell did he make it through med school. You get no real sense of their relationship as it happens in random incidents. I feel like most of the book is about her allergies and their parents. I'm not even sure how serious they are about each other. Then it's just over. WTF! Poor Melissa Jackson is going to be in a mess of complications as she switches to a new doctor for her allergies! She is a small town girl who starts out thinking she has no need for a man. But when she and Carl Northrop, a pulmonologist, bump into each other as she is trying to find the right office, he quickly asks if she would pretend to be his fake girlfriend “for the next two minutes” in order to discourage a co-worker coming toward them down the hallway who can’t take the hint that he does Poor Melissa Jackson is going to be in a mess of complications as she switches to a new doctor for her allergies! She is a small town girl who starts out thinking she has no need for a man. But when she and Carl Northrop, a pulmonologist, bump into each other as she is trying to find the right office, he quickly asks if she would pretend to be his fake girlfriend “for the next two minutes” in order to discourage a co-worker coming toward them down the hallway who can’t take the hint that he doesn’t want to date her. Melissa gives a quick nod and goes along with it to help him out as they started to talk about their evening date and the sexy lingerie she would be wearing. Melissa met her dad at a restaurant where he sat on the patio, despite her telling him her asthma was acting up and this was not a good idea. But he wanted to tell her something and this was his choice; he didn’t want to eat inside. So when her asthma got more out of control, he left without sharing his information with her. He never listened to her and didn’t seem to care about her health. Carl and his sister Laurie met their mom at a fancy restaurant so they could meet the man she was seeing. Neither of them were impressed with the man. He never stood up to shake hands with them and let their mom answer their questions. He also was travelling quite a bit with their mom and allowing her to pay for everything. Carl already didn’t like him, and the looks he exchanged with his sister said she wasn’t very happy either. Doctor/patient relationships are not permitted, but he puts his career at risk for her. She likewise is willing to risk her heart over this man. But they hadn’t acted on anything yet. Now he is handed an envelope that HR wants to see him in the morning and he is suspended pending their investigation! Of course, the letter doesn’t say what they are investigating! But his vindictive co-worker, Eva, smugly walked up and told him he should have chosen her. Now he would lose his job, even if he didn’t do anything wrong! But it doesn’t stop there. Carl and Melissa’s parents, who are both widowed, become engaged and things turn very complicated as their family relationship dynamic is about to change! Carl had no idea the man he met at dinner that night was Melissa’s father! So how does Melissa explain that the hot doctor she wasn’t even supposed to be dating is now going to be part of her family? And how will she explain that she’s now pregnant? This is beyond awkward. Is there a solution where Carl won’t lose his job and their parents won’t disown them? And is the good doctor ready to find out he’s going to be a dad?

What in the world did I just read? The book starts out with character introduction and a problem development that hooks you when the two leads meet each other in an elevator. She's on the way to a doctor's appointment. He's on his way back from lunch and he ends up being her doctor. That sets up the problem for the book, you think. He's her doctor; therefore, it's unethical for them to act on this initial attraction. I went into the book thinking this was going to be the case. It was, sort of. He's her doctor; therefore, it's unethical for them to act on this initial attraction. I went into the book thinking this was going to be the case. It was, sort of. There's this whole other issue that develops with drama with her father and then there is drama with his mom. He also is dealing with workplace dynamics. The entire book felt disjointed and that it was a lot of different scenes that were written independently of each other and then were put into a semi chronological order. It didn't feel like it had been written as a book from start to finish and instead was I need X number of scenes to finish a book and each scene was written without really thinking about how it would all tie together. Then you get the epic drama of the ending of the book but it's not really the ending of the book because you still have 20% of the book to go and then it feels like a new story has started. Then it abruptly ends and even with the epilogue you're left wondering what happens. We have multiple characters outside of just the two leads that have unfinished stories and we have an unfinished story for our two leads. I don't feel like the book is complete and I'm left wondering what happens to everyone. This is a stand alone book that should have an ending and there is no ending.

When he goes to meet his new patient, he is surprised to see Mel. They discuss how they can’t date because of the code of ethics, but they both keep meeting up with each other. They get to a point where they can no longer fight their attraction for each other and they discuss Mel being referred to another doctor. Then they are both in the bar one night and they hook up briefly and Carl freaks out till his sister sorts him out. There is a lot of drama with both of their single parents and with Mel and Carl and with Carl being reported to HR. But things are finally sorted out and then Mel gives Carl a shock which leaves him floundering to find his feet. I found this book very entertaining and enjoyable. It is a book you definitely want to read. You won’t be disappointed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Prescription for love Out of all the books in this series this one was by far the best. Carl and Mel were like two magnets trying to stay apart but irresistibly drawn together. Abrupt ending I hff ave read many of this author's books and have enjoyed them, but there was something missing from this book. Without giving too much away, the ending was abrupt. No epilogue, says he wont ask her to marry him and they haven't even slept over together. There are a lot of questions and logistics to work out, and they never really said they loved each other. Didn't seem like much of a happy ending. Love this author, but this book, not so much. This was a very entertaining story. There is obvious attraction between Melissa and Carl which they fight against but lost out to in the end. They navigate through a crazy co-worker, somewhat crazy family and good friends, and go through some tumultuous times to become a couple in the end. A fun read for your library. That ending Melissa and Carl are a breath of fresh air they meet and are instantly attracted to each other but he is her doctor. Melissa has a father that is absolute trash and Carl’s mother just does not listen to any advice her children give her can you see where this star goes. I loved it I just would have loved to know what actually happens between Carl and Melissa in regards to that ending I will not spoil.

I so happy to read any in every book by Stephanie brother. This book was more of a well we might be breaking ethic rules but our parents are driving is crazy and how can we get together ... story. This is very well written it captures your interest right away and you fall in love with the main characters immediately. And at the same time the author makes you want to slap the parents so hard . The only reason this review is 4 star is because of how fast the ending came. must read

A really good fast-pace and engaging page turner! The story-line is well-developed, emotionally deep, well written, and relatable. There are many twists and turns, suspense, ups and downs, witty banter, humour, and heart-racing drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Likeable characters with amazing chemistry between them. A lot happened in this book and it is definitely worth the read. I loved it until.... The end. It was so abrupt and not fulfilling. I would have rated it better otherwise. Carl is also way too hard on his mom. He doesn't handle anything not work related well at all and when she needed him just to be there he couldn't be. I understand but at the same time she was taken by a con man. Some people just so desperately want to be loved, they don't see the truth. I feel like that is his mom. I loved it until.... The end. It was so abrupt and not fulfilling. Well, this fast-paced short story is slam packed with drama and even has a few shocking twist. I would have liked a little more elaboration and conclusion to the plight. It starts off with Carl asking to date Melissa for two minutes to avoid a coworker. Turns out, he’s her new doctor for her tree pollen allergies. Things heat up between doctor and patient and then gets more complicated with their parents getting married and, on top of it all, Melissa is now pregnant. Steamy. Recommend.

Brilliant Loved this book and the storyline. Loved Melissa and Carl's story. Loved the connection between them both. Didn't like her Dad though. Scheming loser that he was.
