5/5 Stars Juliette leaves her family behind as she begins to live her own life by herself. She moves to a normal seeming island only to be surrounded once again by monsters and magic. As much as I loved the original series where we met Juliette, I can tell I'm gonna love this one too. I'm as skeptical of Samuel as Juliette is, but at the same time I wanna see his redemption. I'm intrigued by this island they are on, and who is behind it. Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author. 5/5 Stars Juliette leaves her family behind as she begins to live her own life by herself. Everything intensifies when an old enemy appears in her life, saving her and ensuring that he has changed. Now Juliette doesn't know what to believe and she must decide whether to escape from the island or risk staying and follow her dreams, living with innumerable dangers. Thank you so much to the author for the book! I received this ebook in exchange for an honest review. I loved the protagonists of this book, I already liked them so much in Circus of the Dead but here we get to know them much better. On the one hand, Juliette is a strong and courageous character, a free spirit full of energy, with a strong personality. I really enjoyed joining her on this new adventure while she discovers what she wants to do. On the other hand, I love Samuel too much, he is a mysterious and enigmatic character, really powerful and dangerous but also very polite. I'm so intrigued by this character because it's impossible to know his true intentions, if he's good or evil... Even he lives in a constant fight against the dark side of him and that was very interesting. Also, I loved the interactions between them, so full of sparks, fighting and arguing all the time. I really want to know how their relationship will continue. The plot of this book was very entertaining, it hooked me from beginning to end. It was a fast and addictive reading. I devoured this book in less than a day because I loved it so much, the story is fascinating. There is also a very interesting intrigue game that completely hooked me, trying to figure out who is human and who is not, who is good and who is dangerous. That was really cool. The story has some dark and creepy scenes that I loved, plus plenty of action and adrenaline, with some mind-blowing scenes full of fights and an impressive display of power. Also, a bit of drama and a lot of emotions. There are supernatural creatures, starting with zombies in this first book. And the last pages were so shocking and full of action. I loved this book, I can't wait to read the next one.

Circus of the Dead Chronicles it the first book in Kimberly Loth’s spin-off series from her original Circus of the Dead. In Circus of the Dead readers were introduced to a variety of characters and two of them continue their story in this book after being able to reclaim their lives. Now, Juliette has found an opportunity to leave Louisiana and have a chance at a new beginning on a…you guessed it…new island. Shockingly, Samuel is there, too and this island is inhabited by dark creatures looking for a way to get off the island…something Juliette and Samuel are all too familiar with. Circus of the Dead Chronicles really reeled me in with Juliette finally getting the freedom she’s been wanting to acquire. She’s away from family, and she’s finding her own way by taking classes in pursuit of a dream that she has. She just has no idea that this new island harbors some dark secrets that threaten the lives of the humans who live there. The appearance of Samuel is surprising, but it also promises sparks of romance…even if Juliette is fighting it so far. LOL! Now, I enjoyed this story, but that’s typically not unusual. The first book always engages me, but it’s the ones that follow that tend to taper off so I’m hopeful that this series will continue to develop the horror element/aspect and stay engaging. I will say that I felt that Juliette was a bit immature in certain scenes. I get and totally understand her resentment towards Samuel, but the petulant “I’m not doing this because YOU told me to and I don’t like you” is just a bit too immature. I get that she’s still a teenager, but I’m hopeful that she begins to mature a bit especially with what she’s facing on this new island. While I do complain about a couple things, I did enjoy this first installment in this spin-off series. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I am choosing to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you read the Circus of the Dead series and enjoyed it then I encourage you to pick up this book and check it out.

I loved reading the Circus of the Dead series, so when I saw that the author was writing further adventures in this world, I jumped at the chance to read more. Juliette Baker has been given a second chance at life thanks to her friend, Callie. She is given the opportunity to study yoga on an island in Wisconsin and she can't wait to start her new life. However, when she stumbles over a headless body on her first day, she's not so sure that she has totally left her past behind. And, when she finds out that the man who caused her and her family so much pain on the Circus island in Louisiana, Juliette begins to doubt her choice. Samuel Walker, the Obeah from the Circus Island, is now working as a Private Investigator and swears to Juliette that he is a changed man and just wants to right the wrongs he committed before. But, as Juliette says, "Somehow, I've found myself on another island with Samuel. Though, this time I'm apparently surrounded by zombies and werewolves and trolls." I loved this first glimpse into Samuel and Juliette's further adventures and can't wait to read more. The characters are great and the interaction between Samuel and Juliette is believable and well-written. Ms. Loth has outdone herself in this next step in the world of the Circus of the Dead and I can't wait to see what happens next. I was given the chance to read an ARC of this book by the author and chose to review it.

Ignoring Samuels pleas to leave Juliette deciders to stay, keep her head down and complete her scholarship while keeping as far away from Samuel as possible. When Juliette stumbles across a dead body (literally) she has no choice but to team up with Samuel to stop the creature from leaving the Island. I loved Circus of the Dead and was so excited to learn about the chronicles. I was hoping Samuel would pop up at some point and here he is front and centre alongside Juliette. These books are going to be epic.

"Life gives us surprises" and Juliette Baker could not believe that she was in part two of her nightmares, even more so, with the monster that had created them for her. Samuel Walker, Obeah man of the Circus of Dead had a lot to atone for. The guilt for his many past deeds were present all the time, he had a chance, and he was working hard on them. He was not more the person Juliet remembered and he had the knowledge and power to make wrongs right. I wasn't ready for The Circus of the Dead to be finished. The last scene in the book led me to believe that I would see these people again, and I was so excited that the author thought so too. Juliette and Samuel are such colorful characters, and I'm looking forward to seeing if she throws them together or if they become mortal enemies again.

This author did an amazing job in chapter one giving readers enough background to have the continuing tale make sense for those that did not read the original series. Picking those two particular characters to start the tale is just genius. I find myself holding strong to the belief that the “ bad guy” isn’t actually reformed and keep waiting for that “knife in the back”. The female MC is perfectly portrayed with understandable trauma syndrome and is being surprisingly brave in spite of it. Of course the repeated near death experiences make her bravery look quite immature so I am looking forward to her growth! The storyline is perfection, running a parallel to the dangers of the original island but with its own twist. A fabulous book one slam dunk! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

Circus of the dead Chronicles, Book 1 I love how Kimberly Loth is doing it a bit different, with novelas coming out every two weeks until the end of the first that so we'll have 10 novelas this year! That way you get the relationship between Juliet and Samuel better. I'm loving getting Juliette's after story. Finding a new island is kinda awesome and scary. This was extremely enjoyable to read especially finding out that Samuel is on the island too. I can't wait to find out more about this island and it's dark inhabitants. I'm loving getting Juliette's after story. Finding a new island is kinda awesome and scary. Great second beginning! I love the Circus of the Dead series. This honestly just helps top it all off I’m so excited to see where Samuel and Juliette go in this series and I kind of hope the same direction as Benny and Calliope!

Fast-paced and exciting! I loved this new spin-off series from Circus of the Dead. A new island, new creatures and a new set of staring characters I can’t wait for more!
