Oh my gosh, this got me so invested right away. I flipping loved Noah and how sweet and caring he was throughout. He's about the sweetest hero I've ever read. And watching how Emma Jean pulled herself up from her horrible past was amazing. These two are perfect for each other and I love being in this series with these characters and can't wait for B.J. to write me more! Oh my gosh, this got me so invested right away. The love, commitment, and between the sheets chemistry is so off the charts that Emma Jean finally learns not all men are like her horrible ex-husband. From start to finish, I was absolutely HOOKED on Taking Shelter. I cried. I laughed. I got angry and then I SWOONED! Emma Jean and Noah have known each other for years. From start to finish, I was absolutely HOOKED on Taking Shelter. I cried. I laughed. I got angry and then I SWOONED! Emma Jean and Noah have known each other for years. Noah is Tally, Emma Jean's best friends older brother. Noah lost his chance at Emma Jean all those years ago because he waited and what happened? She married the popular football player that all the girls swooned over in high school. Little did she know what she was in for... let me tell you this man deserved what he got. I won't spoil too much but I was thrilled when she was finally free of him. You could feel the pain and the heartbreak throughout this novel. B.J has an amazing way with words and making them come off the page with feelings and emotions. Now, let's talk about Noah. Small town, definitely swoon worthy, sweetheart. Noah comes out and makes his feelings for Emma Jean known when he sees the chance. I love that the he-man side of him comes with an ooey, gooey side as well. You can feel the LOVE he has for his Emma Jean. He takes it slow for her knowing her rough past. Knowing she needs him to understand where she's at with things. Curl up on the couch, grab your favorite drink, and get ready to meet one of the hottest, most swoon-worthy men you'll meet this year. Noah Hawkins is going to warm you with some major hotness. There are so many reasons why you should read this book! Add it to your TBR now and make sure you pick it up on release day - 1/8/19!

Noah had been in love with Emma Jean since high school, but because he waited, it was too late. Unfortunately the consequences was so much more dire for Emma Jean. The life Emma Jean had endured during her marriage was horrifying. Once she finally decided she’s had enough, she knew exactly who to call, her best friend Tally, who happens to be Noah’s sister. Once upon a time, Tally, Luke, Emma Jean and Noah were all inseparable, so when the call came into Tally, Noah was not far behind. For the first time in a long time, Emma Jean is finally able to feel safe and hopeful for the future. Noah also is finally getting his second chance and he was not wasting it. Emma Jean is obviously skittish but Noah is so patient her. The chemistry between these two is strong, but Emma Jean’s feelings of unworthiness and the return of Cody almost derails their happily ever after. I really enjoyed Emma Jean and Noah’s story. I loved seeing Emma Jean gain her confidence and watching her inner strength emerge. And what can I say about Noah, he was wonderful. He was going to do everything in his power to make her happy and protect her but not take away her new found independence. I am looking forward to reading on in this series.

I’m so glad to have gotten Emma Jean and Noah’s story. They weren’t so much a second chance love as a “first love that never was” kind of love. Noah has always loved Emma, but she was taken by another before he got up the nerve to ask her out years ago. Once he sees his shot at making things right because his One needs him, he jumps at the chance to do everything he can to make her his and to prove that he’s always been hers. As for Emma, her tale is heartbreaking, yet all too common for so many I’m so glad to have gotten Emma Jean and Noah’s story. As for Emma, her tale is heartbreaking, yet all too common for so many women, but her strength and determination to survive and move on make her an easy-to-love character. Her fear, her worries, her certainty that she’s not good enough for Noah...they‘re all so realistic because I’ve had friends escape relationships like hers and have witnessed how they learn to live and accept that they’re enough again. I truly enjoyed the ride to Emma and Noah’s HEA and can’t wait to see which couple is next in this series.

4* Emma jean had been around Tally & Noah all her life, Tally been her best friend until she married Cody. A phone call to Tally has Emma revealing more about her life. Noah has always loved Emma Jean but is she ready for his love? An emotional story book which shows courage, strength and determination within. A great series can’t wait for the next book, Carter & Fiona hopefully? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. A really lovely read.

Beautiful book. Very hard at the beginning reading what Emma Jean went trough. I love small town romances and love Emma Jean and Noah’s story. Even though it took them years to finally come together after what Emmie had endured with her husband, they got their HEA. Love Noah. He was just what Emma Jean needed. So caring and protective. If you love small town romances with protective Alpha males, you’ll love this book. Can’t wait for more of this series.❤️

Heartwarming tale of strength and survival I loved the second installment in the Medicine Wheel series! Noah is positively dreamy in the way he swoops in and gives Emma Jean everything that she needs whether she knows or wants to admit it at the moment. And Emma Jean... after enduring such a traumatic relationship, to see how she grows not only in herself but in her relationship with Noah is inspirational. Loved it and I can’t wait for who’s story is next!!

This series cannot get any sweeter. I loved Bentley's sensitivity to domestic violence, and Emma Jean's path to recovery and self love. Yeah you get the alpha sexy goodness that is Noah, but he helps her heal and learn to love herself again. I think anyone who has been abused will latch on to Emma Jean's story and root for her the whole way through-- I know I did! This series cannot get any sweeter. Let's just hit the ground running with this review, shall we? Noah and Emma Jean are absolute perfection. Their love story is far from perfect. But their devotion, commitment and hot as heck chemistry fills in all of the imperfections left behind from time and an awful husband. From start to finish, Taking Shelter took my breath away. Noah missed his chance to make Emma his all those years ago. And what happened? She married the schmuck he made his move first. Fast forward to present day and Emma Jean has left the beast. Trust me when I say this - beast isn't a strong enough word for the man she married. But, collective sigh of relief here, she's free. She's protected. And now it's time to heal. Physically as well as mentally. The things Emma went through are what scary movies are made of. It's every woman's worst nightmare come to life. Reading about what she endured is what brought on the waterworks. My heart felt like it was being squeezed to death. Seriously. Her previous home life was described with such detail and emotion, it was impossible not to feel like I was living Emma's life too. But Taking Shelter isn't just about this strong as Hades woman showing the world just how strong she is. No, it's about a second chance at true love. And THAT'S why Emma Jean and Noah's love story perfection. Interaction: Oh Noah. Just saying his name has me swooning at my keyboard. Noah makes his feelings for Emma Jean clear from the get-go. But he has an underlying gentle element to his he-man personality. I guess what I'm trying to say is he's a big ol' teddy bear. He's tough, he takes change, gets what he wants, but when it comes to Emma Jean? Total softy. He knows after everything she has been through, he can't just jump into bed with her. But he also pretty much tells her they are going to be a "thing" whether she likes it or not. Now, before you say, wow that's pretty alpha, let me set the record straight. He tells her they're together - however, he then tells her they're going to take things as slow as she wants. See? Teddy Bear. Bottom line? Noah just made my top 5 favorite book boyfriends list. Laundry: Obviously, Noah and Emma Jean don't get down and naughty on page 1. Their chemistry sizzles in this slow burn until they ignite like a dang forth of July show. Noah is everything you ever wanted in a book boyfriend. He knows when to be sweet and he knows when to be downright naughty. MMMMmmmm. So delicious. Depth: Emma Jean's previous home life brings so much depth to their story. Even after walking away from her low life jack wagon of a husband, that pain he caused her doesn't just go away. It lingers in every sense of the word. Which then makes her healing process take even longer. Now, remember this is a country themed book, so Tally's horse farm is visited and a certain part of this book made my heart sing. BJ references Emma Jean going to the barn to visit - however for me it was so much more than that. Equine therapy is real and in college I was privileged enough to volunteer at two barns that offered it. I'm a firm believer in the healing powers of these magnificent 1000 pound animals. And I adored that Emma used animals in her healing process. It was beautiful. There are so many reasons why you should read this book. This was an enjoyable read and I loved watching Emma Jean gain her confidence and independence back as she slowly found the way back to herself again. Noah was totally in love with her and supported her all the way. Overall, I enjoyed their story and look forward to more books in this series. SPOILER.... The only issues I have with this story (view spoiler)[ is the time line from when Cody beats Emma Jean, to her and Noah living together and becoming intimate and her being super active including riding a horse just a short time after being seriously injured including 3 broken ribs. In my opinion, she would have needed several weeks of recovery, both physically and emotionally, before engaging in these activities. I also have an issue believing that Noah has loved her since they were teenagers, but never attempted to get her out of the abusive situation with her husband. (hide spoiler)] There are very interesting secondary characters from both book 1 and 2 that I look forward to reading their stories and getting updates on Tally, Luke, Emma Jean, and Noah.

The last thing on Emma Jean's mind is another relationship. Right now Emma Jean has to deal with filing for divorce and praying her husband signs it quietly. Noah’s “that one that got away” has always been Emma Jean and he is not letting her slip through his fingers again. He is exactly what Emma Jean needs and he knows it, her not so much, at first. I think of the verse “Love is patient, Love is Kind, It always protects….” when I think about Noah. He is that silent strength that Emma Jean needs. He does not push but he is the strong arms to hold her up. He will fight for her, he will protect her, and he does. I loved how Emma Jean grew in the book, she did not stay stagnant. She moved forward. Nothing was going to stop her, not even her in-laws, who needed a wake-up call. The connection between Tally, Luke, Noah and Emma Jean is what everyone wants in their group. That bond, that loyalty is priceless. I am curious about Able though. Wondering if that may be a future book….. ** ARC provided for an honest review **

I loved this so many aspects of this story. Emma had no idea of the support she had around her. It was always there but she lost sight of it and it was a beautiful thing to see her grow to trust and care for them. I loved her independent streak that had been stifled for so long was able to shine. She got a job, she wanted a car, she didn’t want company or hovering, she wanted freedom. I also liked how BJ explained through Emma the trials women go through in abusive relationships. It’s not only the physical abuse, but it’s the mental and the controlling and the total isolation. Emma did what she could, even saving pennies to save up to run away “some day”. What I was a little thoughtful about was Noah's hurried need to be with Emma. I thought maybe he came on a little too strong too soon but Emma seemed to like it, so what do I know?? I can’t wait to see what BJ gives us next!!

Maybe this plot line just hits a little too close to home. It was frustrating. Maybe I’m being too harsh on Emma. Maybe she truly believes this, but she supposedly has this network of friends/family that just lets her suffer?! Yeah, no. I like Emma Jean’s journey and Noah did grow on me eventually. I really enjoyed book 1 but I'm struggling with this one. The conversational tone in regards to abuse of Emma Jean is so childish in nature, the things the characters say are just odd. Then, Emma Jean sort of behaves like she is still a child in every way...her weird half-interactions with Noah, crying over her first day on her new job, feeling like a burden to her friend...its all just super odd. Maybe I just think people are smarter in general but thr presentation of the characters is too simp I really enjoyed book 1 but I'm struggling with this one. I really enjoyed Emma's character because she over comes a lot and I feel like her character what is really well written to betray both a strong woman get one that can struggle. Love how Emma Jean was strong enough to ask for help to get out a relationship with her abusive husband. Tally and Luke stepped in a did what was needed to make Emma Jean safe along with Noah. The character of Noah was compassionate, caring, loving and bossy some of the time, but continued to help Emma Jean. His dedication to her from High School and from then on is a true love story.

I finished it in one sitting! No one should ever have their power taken away. What Emma Jean went through was hell; she doubted herself and everyone around her. Noah loved her from afar since they were teens and now that he has a second chance, he’s determined to take care of her. But maybe her fears will destroy their HEA before it even takes off. I love this series. It doesn’t paint a fairytale. The best authors paint believable characters and this author does just that.

This is an amazing read, following on from Luke and Tally's story. Emma Jean and Noah have a chemistry that cannot be denied. The way this book is so cleverly written it gives you all the feels, it's hot, sexy, romantic, and has a lot of angst and sad moments. It's just another amazing read from BJ Bentley and I'm really hoping Fiona and Carter get their story next. This is an amazing read, following on from Luke and Tally's story. Emma Jean and Noah’s story started in high school but when he doesn’t get the courage to make his move fast enough, she falls for another. After Emma Jeans horrible marriage is finally over swoony Noah swoops in and tries to show her that not all men are bad like her ex. Their story is an emotional rollercoaster that you can’t get enough of.

I absolutely loved this story of Noah and Emma Jean. This story tugged at my heart strings and made me what to just hug Emma to death. She is not a victim but a survivor. Noah...sweet, lovable Noah. He has such patience and love for Emma Jean. I am loving this series and cannot wait for more. ~waving hands eagerly ~ Come on, Ms Bentley. Bring on more (especially Carter and Fiona!)

Taking Shelter is a second chance to get the "one who got away" romance. It has heartbreak, abuse, family and of course love. But will love be enough to get Emma to give Noah a chance to make her happy? Read to find out just what it will take to have a happy ever after living with and surviving a monster. There is nothing quite like a small town romance. This was a sweet and sexy book. It shows that love can heal when a tragedy has occurred. It gives you all the feels.... anger, sadness, a little annoyed (talk to the police), understanding, hotness and love. I really enjoy a good love story and I think everyone deserves a Noah. His love for Emma Jean was real and lasting.
