Alright this is a quick "initial reaction" update: Minus a few incongruities and one chapter that I think the editor skipped, this is surprisingly well presented for an indie novel. I like the characters and the world, although parts of the world building were repeated a little too frequently. I ended up eventually bored reading about the layout and weather of this amazing solar system. Two-three explanations tops are enough, beyond that I'm skimming when geography / solar array pops up I couldn't understand the fixation with everyone's clothes: half of them wear armless red tunics with pants and boots. My favorite aspect: no romance. Hello authors, It's not necessary in a good book I think my biggest gripe was that it took half of the book for the invasion to occur. Someone also probably should have at least basically explained his tattoo before the end of the book. Pros: good story, good group of characters, found family element, no romance. Rich world building. I'm going to liken it to my reaction to Dune where I really liked the story but found it profusely long-winded at times. Initial reaction is 3 stars, with definite interest in the next book

Reading has never been my go to hobby, and sci-fi fantasy has always came on as a bit too complex for my liking. Yet as I grow older nothing locks my mind in more than a great read. It expands my vocabulary as well as shapes the perspective that I use while while watching my favorite shows. Reading books has given me a new sense of moods and timing while watching my favorite shows, and even new shows i discover. Yes, reading has taken my ability to follow a story line to wonderful heights, but know book has given me a closer look on basis of perspective and scale than Exiles of a Gilded Moon Volume 1: Empire's Wake By Dustin R. Cummings Never have I read a book that was so expounded in its scale, it is almost overwhelming when you first start to read it, but as you read along the curtain starts to rise. The insidiousness that the story moves with makes it quite a difficult novel to set down. Now, I don’t want to hype you up or anything, and I’m most certainly not the expert on books, but this has to be the best novel I’ve ever read. Exiles of a Gilded Moon Volume 1: Empire's Wake By Dustin R. Cummings is a complex story with everything you need: adventure ,mystery, suspense, excitement, creativity, scale. It is a story of how big your life is, to you, because the more you read, the smaller your life seems in perspective to the rest of the universe. I’m quite impressed with this incredible, and I can’t wait to read what comes next By Dustin R. Cummings Highly Recommended!! Any questions or critique please leave in the comment section below, as well as any suggestions in writing and what to read next. Thank You.

Epic space fantasy with deep worldbuilding. If you like your fantasy epic, and set in space, this is the book for you. Cummings' worldbuilding is light-years deep, and you get a sense that he has clearly thought through the coming books in the series and laid all the groundwork, carefully disguised as gorgeous description and fascinating cultural tidbits. And can I just say, the man knows how to describe clothing, in great detail. The writing is tight, and though it may be a bit formal for some Epic space fantasy with deep worldbuilding. The writing is tight, and though it may be a bit formal for some tastes, he sets the tone early and maintains it at a flawless level throughout the book. This is high fantasy, and the exalted prose is fitting for the genre. The growth of the main character, Darshima, is impressive, especially since we see him at the beginning as the runt of the family, never living up to his older brother. The pace of the book is intriguing, as the first half is a careful and finely crafted build of character, world, and relationships, until the invasion--not spoiling anything since it's in the book's description. At that point it becomes more fast-paced, and the stakes you never realized were being laid are now amplified through the heavens. If you've read the description, you already know this book is about slavery, and the depictions of conditions in the slave colonies are difficult to read, given how closely they hew to real-world examples of the abhorrent practice. But Cummings knows when to pull back, when to move the story along, which he does. And by the end you can tell you are both hurtling toward a conclusion of this story's arc but also getting ready for another arc entirely in the second book, which I eagerly await.

Amazingly woven like an interesting spell. I didn't thought this book will going to be this good. It was , as you might expect , engaging , a total different piece of art from every aspect. It sets a very high bar for whatever he does that comes next. Must Read Amazingly woven like an interesting spell. I didn't thought this book will going to be this good.
