Tagalog is the basis of the Filipino language. The kit comes with 64 flash cards, an audio CD to listen to the words being said as well as songs in Tagalog, and a wall chart fort he most commonly used words and counting numbers. The cards are straight forward and engaging. They have a photo of the object on one side. The back has the word in English, the pronunciation in Tagalog, and commonly used full Tagalog phrases that contain that word. For example: the word "mother." on the back of the card it also teaches you how to say "I love my mom" as well as "my mom is a teacher." The cards are numbered as well as color coded into categories such as "my family." The one downfall of the cards that I found was that it is hard to tell in some of the photos, what exactly you are supposed to name. Using the example of "mother" again: the mother is standing there holding a tray of cupcakes. She is holding them out, almost as if offering you some. If I were to see that photo and not know the answer that is already on the back, I would definitely assume I was supposed to use the translation for cupcakes. I found this learning set to be very helpful and useful for a parent or teacher trying to teach their child Tagalog. They also would be helpful for an adult who is trying to learn the basics of the language. *I received this product for free from Tuttle Publishing, in exchange for an honest review of the product.*
