What kind of loser pretends to have a boyfriend? Oh, yeah, that’s me, Landon Nichols. I’m the loser. In my defense, I didn’t actually make up a boyfriend. My mom just assumed I had one, and I figured if it made her feel better to think I had someone in my life, then what could it hurt? Nothing, right? Until she decides I need to bring my pretend boyfriend home for a visit. I What kind of loser pretends to have a boyfriend? Oh, yeah, that’s me, Landon Nichols. I’m the loser. Another great story in River Gorge. I have been waiting for Miller to find the one and all it took was some pretend to figure out what he really wanted. Landon just wants to convince his mom that he is happy and okay but gets way more than he bargained for. I love how none of it had to be acting for either of them to show affection but they just needed to learn to talk a little more. I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review

Listen to your heart I’ve been waiting for Miller to fall in love and it was everything amazing, heartwarming and wonderful all rolled up into a beautiful package. “It all added up to me finding a man I could be myself with, that I could love, and that would love me in return.” Miller is a sweetheart and all of his actions, and just him being him, cemented his place in my heart. I couldn’t picture him with anyone other than Landon, who, along with his awesome family, is exactly what Miller needs. I was moved by how Landon listened to his heart to see and know who Miller really is. Plus, together they set off fireworks. I’m talking colorful, bright explosions that fill the sky and leave you seeing stars type of fireworks. I want...no, need...no, crave more of them. It’s no wonder I fell head over heels for them and emphasizes that River Gorge is the place to be.

A fun, lighthearted and sweet holiday romance where we get to revisit River Gorge, and this time, Miller and Landon finally find the love they deserve. I really enjoyed getting playboy Miller's story because we finally get to delve into who he really is and see a softer and more tender side to him. He ended up being the perfect match for the sweet and loving Landon, and I adored how it didn't take them long to realise they wanted something real together. We’re back in River Gorge and it’s just as awesome as ever! I love Miller and Landon – they were so great together! As a whole, I really liked how their relationship developed. Miller and Landon made sense together; they balanced each other out and Landon’s willingness to trust and accept Miller for who he was, was beautiful. These two were just so sweet together. Seeing Miller find out what having true family is like was so lovely. That Landon was able to give him that was perfect and I loved that they fit so well together – two people who just needed to find the right person to help make them that much happier. I really loved the idea of it not being about finding the person to ‘complete you’ but finding the person who makes your world a little bit brighter. I have to say (and this is a personal soap box issue for me – see below in the spoiler) that I was really disappointed in their friends for about 75% of the book. I expected more of Ripley in particular (given how close he was to Miller). They came around towards the end, but it saddened me that Ripley would act that way (especially given the way people judged him in the past – he should have known better). That being said, I liked that they did come around. It was genuine and not forced; there was an understanding they’d gotten things wrong and the way they supported Miller made up for their initial actions. I also really, really liked that Landon didn’t make a whole thing about it. He approached the whole issue maturely and with a genuine acceptance that was incredibly refreshing. (view spoiler)[ I have a major issue with people being classed as incapable of commitment, monogamy, or just plain decent human behaviour because they have previously only had casual relationships/sex. Consensual sex between adults where both parties know that there is no deeper meaning/relationship being formed is absolutely okay. Deliberately leading people on/cheating is wrong - consensual casual sex is not. It should not be demonised. There has never been any indication that Miller led people on. All signs point to him being a really great guy who just wasn’t ready to settle down. That Miller’s friends acted as if he would hurt Landon by leading him on or that he was incapable of something more upset me. I was surprised and angry with Ripley for judging Miller so harshly and for being incapable of seeing Miller for more than a playboy. What I did absolutely LOVE was how Landon dealt with it. It was so refreshing to see him accept Miller for who he was, regardless of his lack of prior long-term relationships. He never made Miller feel less than or suggested he should be more cautious in giving him his trust. It was so nice to see that. Landon was genuinely awesome and it really drove the point home – Landon could see Miller was a good guy because he was a good guy. That’s what really made this book a five star for me. (hide spoiler)] I guess the long and short of all that is, definitely read this book if you want to see two sweet, wonderful people find their happily ever after! *I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I was very excited for this next book in the Men of River Gorge series and we finally get Miller’s story. It was enjoyable seeing someone finally tie him down. Landon is a sweetheart and Miller and Landon were wonderful together. There was true chemistry between them and lots of heat. So.Much.Heat! There is so much more to Miller than the just the playboy we see in the rest of the series and one theme of this story is how growing up in a small town and being perceived in a certain way while you are finding your way sets peoples expectations for the rest of your life. Having grown up in a small town I can absolutely see this and I really empathized with Miller. And while Landon and their friends are skeptical of his ability to commit we get to see who he really is. The interaction between Miller and Landon’s family shows his true character and he is perfect for Landon. This had everything I like in a holiday story, fake boyfriends, family obligations and a satisfying HEA with a sweet epilogue. While Reigning in the Bad Boy could be read as a standalone as it is fully rounded, there are enough references to other characters in the River Gorge series that you would find it easier to understand the dynamics of their relationship and of their friends reactions to it if you’ve read the rest of the series. And since it is a great series, I recommend reading them. This was a low angst and fairly quick read. It perfectly fits into finding time to read into the busy holidays. Jacki James delivers again. In the huge quantity of holiday releases this season, this is one of the books that stands out.

People can change, you just have to let them This was such a fun, sweet story. Fake relationships are always fun to watch play out. I know Miller earned at least part of his reputation, but my heart ached for him that his friends didn’t allow for him to change. They just put him in this neat little box, saying that this was all he was going to be. Like him, I knew they didn’t mean any harm when they teased him, but the way they confronted him at the coffee shop—I was as angry as he was. These were his friends. Ridley could’ve been gentler, but life isn’t perfect. That all got sorted out, and no lasting harm was done on their friendship. This is book five in the series. I’m such a weirdo that I tend to jump into series further in, instead of at the beginning. It isn’t always intentional. I just don’t pay attention to books saying they’re a series. I had zero issues with reading this book without reading the previous four. I could tell these fellas had known each other for a while, that there were stories there, but none of that interfered with this book’s story. However, as always, I’m dying to go back and read them. This book was well written with great characters. They weren’t perfect, but they were likable. I am looking forward to seeing what’s up next for these gentlemen. ***A copy was provided, by Neon Rainbow ARC Reviews, for my reading pleasure. #mm #holiday #fakeboyfriend I was given a free arc copy from the author and Neon Rainbow arc team for review. I loved this book so much! It is a fairly quick read. About 4 hours. This is part of the River Gorge series/Universe but can be read as a standalone. I have only read the short story A daddy for the cowboy in this series and didn't feel like I needed to read the others in order to read this. U just won't know the back story of the other characters but it's fine. They just make minor appearances. However, after reading this and loving all the characters I am definitely going to read the others. Landon is fine with being single. Though he would love to settle down if he met the right person. His family won't stop hassling him about being single so he blurts out that he is in a relationship. They of course want to meet the guy and insist he comes home for the holidays. Miller has a bad rep for being a player. He is sick of his friends making it sound like he's a bad guy so he asks Landon if they can help each other out. He will go home and meet Landons parents if he agrees to date him for awhile in front of his friends. Landon says he can't fake it so Miller agrees to try dating him for real exclusively for a short while and see how it goes.

Awesome series and book! I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read from this author but this series my favorite. I don’t even know that I can even specifics why just that there is something about these men and their town. I really liked that Miller got his story. It was his time to settle down but it was all I knew he could be. Landon is sexy and sweet and they are a perfect fit. I also was so pleased that Miller stuck to his guns with what could have been drama-so often the character doesn’t, just to have drama for the sake of drama, and it was refreshing to see it avoided. Angst can be good but sometimes you neither want nor need it. And again loved a similar situation with Landon where it could have kicked off some dramatic miscommunication but instead he acted exactly perfectly. I need more drama free men who can trust and talk in my life, apparently! I’ll be looking forward to what comes next in River Gorge and highly recommend this series!

Little bit of advice, if you read a series it's a clever idea not to start with book number 5. As I never listen to clever hints I had to learn the hard way. I also loved that even though they were not sure about the others feelings, they never doubted their honesty and commitment, for example when a jealous ex tried to convince Landon that Miller was not interested in more than a short fling. Overall this was a rather short but beautiful story and for me a solid 4 star read!

I love the River Gorge series and Reining in the Bad Boy is a perfect addition, bringing together two previous side characters who get their own HEA. What doesn’t help is that the town of River Gorge, as well as his childhood best friend, has always seen him as the town playboy, not realizing that maybe he does actually want more. Will the holidays be merry and bright for these two men or will they allow misperceptions and misguided words of warning deter them from their HEA? This is book 4 of the series and, although you can read it as a stand-alone, IMO is best enjoyed read after the other books b/c previous characters all make an appearance. Hopefully the author will continue the series so other characters can find their HEA as well.

He believes Miller isn't attracted to him and only wants to get out of his parent's war against each other. While I enjoyed getting to know both me and the feelings you get from a holiday read, instead of any relationship development, a lot of problems were solved through internal dialogue and an eventual expression of feelings. The story was sweet, but I would have liked more of a true connection between the two.

Bad Boy gets HEA!!! Miller is so misunderstood! I'm from a small town and I definitely know what it's like to grow up with the stigma of something that you did when you were younger. Miller might have been a playboy or bad boy growing up but now he's looking for his forever. Landon is a forever kind of guy! He begins to realize that nobody gives the real Miller a chance to come out. They always use their per-conceived ideas. I love Landon and Miller together. Landon softens him and shows him what Bad Boy gets HEA!!! Miller is so misunderstood! Wow I almost don't remember anything about it, but unlike the other books, I read this recently. Oh well. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue it because I was assaulted with a bunch of random names that I should've known if I had read the other books. As usual, when there are a lot of companion books I expect a minimum of 'explanations' as to who's who. I know it's my fault for reading a lot of the same trope (fake boyfriend), but sometimes it's done well. In this case the excuse was flimsy. Jacki James has made it possible to see a bad boy that sleeps around can have a change of heart and find a wonderful partner if he is willing to look beyond himself. I love watching what starts out as a fake relationship turn into the love of their lives! When the story is also a friends to lovers one I'm a happy reader. Miller can't seem to get past his playboy reputation, no matter how hard he tries. When his friend Landon needs a "boyfriend" to bring home he happily volunteers for the role. Neither expects the sparks and connection that heat up between them. This was the perfect romance to spend an afternoon with! His time has come Everyone had their opinion of what kind of man they thought Miller Monroe was, it doesn't make their opinion the right one...but he was stuck with it! He'd had his eye on Landon Nichols from the first moment he'd met him about a year ago when he'd moved to the area and started working on his friends ranch. When an opportunity arises to spend more time with Landon he takes it!. Playboy Miller really took to task becoming Landon's fake boyfriend for Thanksgiving. While the fake relationship didn't last longer than one day, these two men did put a timeline on their relationship, but as the time moved forward both realized they found something lasting and worth fighting for. I really enjoyed that there was no big break up scene and the epilogue was so sweet! Playboy Miller really took to task becoming Landon's fake boyfriend for Thanksgiving. This was a fun and light-hearted book where the man with commitment written all over him meets his match in the town playboy. We have been getting to know Miller and Landon throughout this series and finally they have a turn for happy ever after. This sweet story shows a softer side of Miller and tells the story of the man he truly is. Landon is just a sweet guy next door with an amazing family to boot. LOVED IT Reigning in the Bad Boy was my first read from The Men of River Gorge Series and I need more. This was Miller and Landon's story, it's a Fake Relationship Romance (MM) which had fun realistic characters, lots of steamy chemistry and a great story line. The book was well written and just got better and better as it went along. I didn't want it to end. Love this series!!! I absolutely loved this story. This series is already amazing but finally getting Miller and Landons story was worth the wait. Getting the tropes of fake boyfriends and one bed to share is fun but with these two it is fun and so sweet. I loved it. Highly recommend this book and the whole series.

No spoilers of any kind included! Reining In The Bad Boy was awesome! This was the first time that I’ve read anything by Jacki James and I have to say I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future. So yes I do recommend Reining In The Bad Boy! *An ARC was provided by the author, publisher or a promotional service and I have chosen to publish a fair and honest review*
