Dallas: He’s the one that got away. But, Banks Weston is more than just the man who got away. I let him go. He’d been ready to share with the world his true self, living life openly. He’s loud and proud. It’s all the many things I’m not. It took me a while, but I did it—everyone knows I’m gay. I want him back. My betrayal broke his heart. No—I obliterated it. But somehow, Dallas: He’s the one that got away. But somehow, our paths cross again, and we have a reason to come together and pretend we’re something we’re not. Though in my heart, I’ll always hope for the second chance I don’t deserve. Banks: I both hate him and love him all at the same time. His arrogant smirk, the way he rakes his hands through his hair when he’s nervous, and how he lightens any situation with his humor—are just a few things I miss about Dallas Phillips. I won’t let him suck me in again by his charming nature. My guard is up. I’m standing firm. That is until we find a reason to be together. We’ll have to fake it, showing the whole world that we’re a couple. Then again, it won’t be hard because my heart has never stopped loving him.

Once upon a time Banks Weston walked away from Dallas Phillips and he let him. Now their paths have crossed again, the question is whether Banks can forgive Dallas for his betrayal. This is a story of looking deep inside oneself and coming to terms with what you find. It is a story of acceptance that love is love, no matter the gender. Dallas wasn’t ready to admit to the world that he was in love with Banks and so he let him walk away. However he has never stopped loving him and now he needs to dig deep to prove he has changed and it ready. Can Banks forgive Dallas or is it too late? These two are meat to be together if only they are ready to let the walls that they have built crumble? The chemistry between them is intense but it is their love story that really drew me in and held me riveted. If you are a fan of MM romance, then this little gem is for you.

So sad, but so wonderful. Dallas and Banks are a great couple, when they aren’t hating each other. Or rather, when Banks isn’t hating Dallas. It’s so hard when Banks is hateful! But it’s almost as hard when Dallas wears his heart on his sleeve. And those kids! Sally and Jonah are wonderful. They’re more than enough to bring a stone to tears. No humans can resist them. It’s a great story, well written. Great characters. I loved it!

Oh my goodness...I don't know where to start with this one. Hot hot hot. I liked many things about this book. It is the second entry in this series of MM romances and I do think you can totally enjoy this all on its own, I do think reading book one, My Only Reason first will only increase your pleasure and really help you get into this expanding world. After meeting Dallas in book one, I was very excited to read his story. I thought Dallas was the type of character that really anyone should be able to relate to. He has regrets and has made some big mistakes along the way and he knows that and owns it. My heart ached for him. The story was well written, complex and compelling. Between the past, the present and looking to the future there is plenty going on, so you stay engaged and invested. As for Banks, I really struggled with this character. Try as I might, I simply could never warm up to him enough to say that I liked him. Could I understand his anger and pain? Yes, I could and I did feel for him but the grudge he held was massive and he would not let it go. This turned into a big problem for me as far as seeing these two as a long-term, successful couple. Since Banks refused to let go of that resentment, I couldn't help but feel it would always be an issue between them. Add to this the severe lack of warmth shown between these two characters (although Dallas certainly tried) and just the general way Banks treated Dallas and this couple just did not work for me. I must say though that there is a secondary story woven into this romance that I thought was powerful, emotional and just plain beautiful. The secondary characters it revolved around were scene and heart stealers. I won't say much because of spoilers but maybe somewhere down the road, each of these characters will get their own books. The bonus epilogue sets up the next book and I have to say it looks turbulent, tension filled, steamy and emotional. I'm looking forward to reading it. This is my candid review that I am posting of my own accord.

This was a great story between Dallas and Banks. Their beginning was so hopeful and Dallas ruined it. Fate has brought them back together where the reader goes on a great adventure. The feels with the introduction of the kids, the personal healing and family healing and then holy moly that twist! This was an easy book to get into and escape from reality

There is no denying the chemistry that Dallas and Banks have, even after a year apart without any sort of contact these two men still have so much love for each other, but there is also a lot of pain and heartache between them. I was rooting for them from the start. Sally and Jonah are exactly what Banks and Dallas needed, but the two kids also needed them. The dynamic that they formed was beautiful and I loved every moment of it. My heart also broke for Sally and Jonah and the struggles and responsibilities they had at young ages and they deserved all the love and good in the world. If you’re looking for a second chance, MM romance with plenty of emotions this is one to read.

Now, we know Dallas as he plays with Ry and Crush, and we got that he had a secret and wasn't very forth coming with it to the guys. What we don't know is that the secret includes Banks Weston, up and coming country music star. A backstory that includes heartbreak and betrayal (not the cheating kind). When the two get thrown together yet again, it seems a bit like fate, but trust is not easily earned once it has been lost. Can the two make something work, or is it a lost cause? Ok, so I really liked most of this story but there are a few bits where I just didn't. Don't really want to spoil things, but I will say I would not have taken all the crap that was dished out, if the betrayal had been something different then I would have understood that. But it was like the punishment didn't fit the crime type of thing, now this is all IMO, I'm sure others will think that it was totally deserved. Everything else in this story was really good, I give this 4 stars.

Another powerfully emotional beautiful second chance read from Leigh Lennon. Dallas and Banks had me all up in my emotions with their story. I don't even know here to begin. Dallas OMG the man has the biggest heart! My heart hurts for Dallas as his fear of coming out to the world destroys the best thing that ever happened to him. I can't even imagine having to justify who I love to anyone and it changing their opinion of me. While this can be read as a stand alone, I feel like you get more out of it if you have read My Only Reason first. Which I have. Dallas and Banks’s story is full of love, regret, sadness, humor, sexiness and a bunch of other emotions that I could go on and on about! I loved it.

Yes! I was waiting on this story since the end of My Only Reason! I knew that Dallas had a tough road ahead of him, but Banks really made it super difficult on him! Honestly I think that Banks is a bit too stubborn and takes WAY too long to give in to what he REALLY wants! I do really love how despite the hard feelings he has towards Dallas he still works really hard with him to do right for the kids that need them. But there were so many times when I was literally thinking "They need to just f*** and get it over with!" I very much enjoyed their story... as well as getting to see Ryder and Crush some more.... and Brooklyn! (who acquired a new friends in this one) I totally recommend to lovers of MM books!

All opinions are my own. Enemies-to-lovers meets a marriage of convenience in a story about the love of family. In one night, Bank Weston's world changed forever - he'd finally come out to all his fans and his new husband Dallas Phillips up and left because he couldn't follow through with coming out himself. A year has passed, in which Dallas has come out, and now that the football season is over, Dallas is keen to get involved with some LGBTQ+ events around town for a new foundation now that he can finally be open with himself. What he doesn't expect is Banks to also be involved. He's never stopped loving Banks and hates himself for handling things the way he did, and even though Banks won't admit it, he's still in love with Dallas, but hates him for his actions. When they come across a brother and sister who have no one, they realise their marriage can be used to give them a family. They can fake things for the sake of giving Jonah and Sally the life and security they deserve. But faking it comes with repercussions that will hurt way more than when Dallas left. I LOVED Dallas' story SO much! After My Only Reason, I was really excited to learn more about our third gay footballer, and Leigh certainly delivered with My Only Regret. There was angst, there was heartbreak, there was romance, there was comedy - it has it all. Dallas and Banks were just such intriguing characters, and it was interesting watching them develop over the course of the book, particularly in terms of their relationship and their connection with one another. There's just so much history, love and hurt between them that you can really feel that from both characters. Just like the first book, we were graced with a hilariously sassy six-year-old in the form of Sally. I adored Brooklyn in book one, so I loved that we got that sass and attitude in this book as well. Jonah was also a really great addition as a moody fifteen-year-old, and together their story was just as engaging as Dallas and Banks'. Part enemies-to-lovers and part fake relationship, this is a slow burn in terms of Dallas and Banks actually getting their shit together and being an actual couple, so there's lots of angst and hope that's ripped from beneath you. Oh, and naturally there is a good serving of steaminess. It's just such a beautiful book with a great balance of family love/heartbreak and romantic love/heartbreak. And as much as I loved Ryder and Crush in the first book, I think Dallas and Banks just took the lead. I also can't wait for Garrison's story coming in the next book - and hopefully we get to see more of these families. You know the drill romance fans - get this book on your radar and add it to the top of your TBR!

Banks was the one that got away because he may have been ready to live their life in the open but Dallas wasn’t and that meant letting him walk away. Time has moved on for Dallas and he is now openly gay and crossing paths with Banks once again has him hoping for a second chance even if he knows deep down he doesn’t really deserve one...... My Only Regret by Leigh Lennon is my first book by her. While there were a couple of aspects of this book that frustrated me, this author's writing talent had me engaged from the very first pages and I hated that I had to put this book down several times due to the domestic responsibilities in my life. Otherwise, I could have easily devoured this book in one sitting. If I could only give you only one bit of advice, it would be to find a quiet place where you could read uninterrupted. This book was really engaging. From the blurb, you know that Dallas left Banks. And that is all I can say because that situation is very complicated. Was I angry with Dallas for his behavior? Oh, yes, definitely because there were other ways to handle the situation. Unfortunately, Dallas made a very poor choice and paid the price. Banks was destroyed after Dallas left him. And I was team Banks for the first part of the book. However, I felt Banks took stubbornness to a whole new level. I also felt he was selfish at times, too. By then I was team Dallas. Again, I won't give you details but other than these two small issues I had with the story, My Only Regret was a great book. This book touches on more than one topic. Aside from supporting the LGBTQ+ community, Dallas and Banks are helping two children. These two children and their state in life broke Dallas and Banks' hearts as well as mine. And here is where the story becomes even more complex and intense. This book was so much more than a romance. In addition to some angst, there are serious elements and a dangerous situation that will keep you turning pages. I'm truly sorry if my review is vague but I don't want to spoil any of this incredible story for you. I am very happy to have discovered this author. I am planning to go back and read book one in this interconnected series and am looking forward to book three as well. My Only Regret is one of my favorite reads of 2021 thus far. Definitely in my top five. This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

My Only Regret is Dallas and Banks' story. I definitely did not see their story playing out the way it did, but I loved it! I loved Dallas right from the start. This is a very unexpected book that i loved! Not your typical MM romance - this one touches upon family and finding your own hea. Dallas and Banks is a couple that never dreamed of kids - and as fate has it - they find their perfect family via Sally and Jonah. This is an amazing story of loving yourself - finding your own definition of “happiness” and ultimately falling in love with a family that was just meant to find you. An amazing story!

    books are love

I wanted to not like him throughout the book but he grew on me. No I fell in love with him. He was strong and real. He made mistakes and was trying to make up for them. He wasn’t out to hurt Banks but was so scared and wasn’t ready like Banks was. He was in a tough situation at the beginning of the book that we really can’t say how we would be if in his shoes. A year later and he has changed. He felt more safe and secure. He grew as a person and knew the time was right when he came out to come out. He lost so much to get there but I think he needed to do this on his time. There is no right or wrong only feeling safe in the decision to come out and Dallas needed that time. In the process his heart was hurt and he lost the trust of Banks but he did what was right for him to feel safe in his moment. So when he sees Banks again, it isn’t good. Banks has so much anger and resentment, he closed himself off to feelings and emotion except anger. Banks was a good guy. He was full of anger and resentment to Dallas that it consumed him into loneliness as well. When him and Dallas see each other the first few times the coldness from Banks can freeze you out. He was very hurtful in his words and took some low blows as well. Dallas though took it all in stride and was determined to gain back Banks. They are put on a committee together and this begins their journey. Bank’s journey was longer than Dallas’s. I think because Dallas had the regrets but knew love would win out in the end. At one event, these two have the opportunity to help a young man and they knew something was off. So they followed instincts and made choices to help this boy and his sister. His sister was adorable. She just wraps you around her from the beginning. This is also when the journey of trust building and forgiveness begins for Banks even if he doesn’t realize it until near the end. Banks holds onto that anger for so long sometimes you feel it has become a part of who he is. As they go about trying to show these two kids they are loved and wanted, they begin to heal in a way. Dallas shows how kind, patient, loving and caring he is. He gives Banks space and support. Love and patience but also shows us how amazing he is with kids. He knows what is needed for his family and does it no questions asked. Dallas’s actions confuse Banks and does make him more frustrated. Banks was not willing to let go of that anger. It was his protective shield to keep from being hurt again. Just as things are going good, we have a moment of stress and tension in which Dallas makes a mistake. A mistake that has him feel such guilt. What is frustrating for me is that it isn’t Banks who forgives and understands first, it is the boy. He helps Dallas see he made a mistake but it wasn’t meant to hurt anyone and it is okay to do that. Dallas owns his mistake but Banks takes it as a lost trust once again. He gets angry and begins to shutdown. It was hard to watch but Dallas, hurt as he was, continued on. He went on and did what his family needed him to do. Be the rock and support needed. There is one moment that shatters Banks anger and you see the love and forgiveness truly begin. Those two together are so beautiful and sweet. They are the yin to the yang. Very understanding and supportive. I love them as a couple and a family. This is a beautiful story of love and family. Forgiveness and growth. The children have you fall in love with them as do Dallas and Banks. Their story back to one another and growing their family is wonderful and amazing.

Dallas we met in book one, and knew he was keeping something secret, but we had no idea how big of a secret he had. I love his heart, and he knows he messed up and kept trying to make it better. Banks, who is now a much bigger country music star than when Dallas made is mistake. I liked Banks, but they way he acted and kept Dallas at arms length most of the book, got old. He held onto his anger and hurt way more and longer than I felt necessary - especially given the circumstances and knowing how much they both cared for each other. But with that said, these two went above and beyond for two youngsters that they met by happenstance, but who got into and stole their hearts almost instantly. They were a cohesive unit when it came to the two children. Leigh also threw in a couple of twists and turns in this one that I really did not see coming, but in the end, it really helped and brought everyone together. Now I will be anxiously awaiting the next book, after reading what and who it will be starring. I absolutely adore this author's writing style, and how she tackles many taboo subjects with grace and lots of truth. She quickly became a favorite author and one that I anxiously await each newly released book. If you haven't read her, and you can keep an open mind about most things, then I highly recommend you picking up some of her works.

I was looking forward to this one after enjoying book one and getting a little glimpse of Dallas. I knew it would be angsty and i was ready for that. What i wasn't ready for was to get angry with the other MC, Banks. This is second chance so you know one of the MCs messed up royally. Boy did he! I really felt for Banks at first. I thought he was justified in his harsh words to Dallas. Dallas made a huge mistake and deserved some hurt thrown back his way. Unfortunately it turned from sympathy to "o.k enough now" to "OMG now i'm not sure i even like you" I think the grudge he held went on far too long. Bearing in mind they were together nearly constantly for months and months it wore on too much for me. His grudge, although it seemed only his mouth kept it up, went too far. It went on until nearly the end of the book then it suddenly goes away without even a discussion really. Banks actually borders on mentally abusive to Dallas through his snipey comments and snide digs, but it was the physical aspect that got me. He didn't get agressive so don't think that but to be honest if they had of had a fight it might have been better than what happened. The cold, no emotion, using aspect really got to me. I hurt bad on behalf of Dallas because Dallas was all in. I agree he needed some comeback from his actions but not going on for that long and it being taken that far. If i was Dallas i would of walked. Now it sounds as though i hated it. I didn't. I liked the storyline itself. The stuff with the kids and the reason they have to be together again was good. I loved Dallas and how determined he was to win Banks back. I even mostly liked Banks but i just wished his forgivness had come much much much sooner than right at the end. His inability to let it drop made me not like him as much i should have.

I was looking forward to this book as soon as I had finished reading My Only Reason, which is the first book in this series. While it is Dallas that we meet in it, I find myself solidly on Team Banks in this book. That said, I still very much liked Dallas; he just had some work to do—that’s all. That way we got a broad view of their shared past as well as their present situation, which happens to be co-chairing an LGBTQ+ foundation to help kids who are kicked out after coming out. I loved and appreciated this storyline. Even though this story is fiction, it brings awareness to something that, unfortunately, is not. These men had chemistry throughout the entire book. It didn’t matter if they were angry or happy; it was there, screaming away, even when in the background. It got the better of them despite attempts to ignore it. It was easy to root for these two men. They were so darn likable. We got to see quite a few familiar faces, including Garrison, whom we also met in book one. Ryder and Crush made a lot of appearances in the book, as they were teammates and friends with Dallas, and now Banks, whom they met through the foundation. They, too, helped with it. I enjoyed getting to see them again, and now want to read their book all over again. My heart went out to Jonah and Sally. Thankfully, so did Banks and Dallas’. They were so sweet with the kids and so protective. It was heartwarming to read. This was a well-constructed story with engaging characters. This author knows how to write in such a way that you get drawn in and before you know it the book is over, leaving you wanting for more. The author gives us a little gem at the end of the story, that hints at the next book. I, for one, am very excited! I can’t wait to read it. ***Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure. A review wasn’t a requirement. ***

Dallas and Banks This was a hard story that made me mad a couple of times. Dallas and Banks had a very complicated history and serious issues that resulted from their choices. When they took on a couple of kids to foster, my heart went out to them. My anger rose as Banks continuously allowed Dallas a smidgen of hope and then would rein in his affection and punish Dallas over and over again. I get it. Banks was hurt. But come on! You're entitled to feel those feelings. But more than hate sex was going in here and our MCs are slow to come to terms with their family and make peace. It's what makes the story compelling. The movement forward. I just hated the repeated steps back. In the end our heroes get their HEA and I really wish we could have had a peak at their wedding night to finally see them show unrestrained love and gentleness and affection. This series has been well written. I loved My Only Reason, but My Only Regret, is the story that brought me to the series (thanks FB ads), and I wanted this one to be my favorite, but it didn't match the beauty of My Only Reason but I am looking forward to My Only Defense that comes out this summer.

Book 2 in Leigh Lennon's Love Is Love series tells the sometimes heart-wrenching story of Dallas Phillips and Banks Weston. Dallas Phillips is one of the stars of the hometown pro-football team, already well known in Nashville. They made big plans to come out of the closet together, but after Banks kept his promise and came out publicly - on stage - Dallas panicked and took the cowardly step of running away - letting Banks know he was leaving in a letter. Banks was understandably devastated, and vowed not only to never forgive Dallas, but to close himself off from love permanently. Over the following year, Dallas realized what a terrible, devastating mistake he made, eventually coming out of the closet and hoping doing so would show Banks he was ready, and hoping he would be forgiven. Banks was absolutely unmoved. But fate brings them together when they are both recruited to help promote a new local charity that will help LGBTQ kids who have been kicked out by their families because of their sexuality. Dallas is determined to win Banks back, but Banks knows he will never be able to trust him again. After one of the first charity events, Dal and Banks stumble upon a teenager and his younger sister as he is being attacked by a group of bullies - it is undoubtedly a hate crime, and both men are moved to help the kids. They learn that the siblings are alone and in trouble, and they start to work together to help them while ensuring that they wouldn't be separated. My Only Regret is sad in places - as Banks's heartbreak is palpable. But Dallas' love for him is strong. Banks believes with his entire heart that even if he tried, he could never forgive Dal, or trust him again. But the love both of them feel for the two kids who become part of their lives is what brings them together. And because they end up spending so much time together helping the kids, Banks starts to see the man he had loved, and begins to let the ice around his heart melt a bit. I really liked My Only Regret, and I'll definitely be reading the third installment in the series coming in August!

4 Stars! One of my pet peeves is when the character that's been wronged forgives the other too easily, and trust me, I know it's difficult to find the right balance. In this instance, Dallas left Banks after they'd decided to come out together, and if it's bad enough to leave your boyfriend, imagine how much worse it is to leave your secret husband of just a week? Especially after they fostered Sally and Joe, who were just adorable and what they needed to become a family. Banks and Dallas were great together, but it took Banks so long to forgive Dallas that I became a little disenchanted of the push and pull and I couldn't get fully invested in their relationship afterward, no matter how good it was.  Despite this, I found the book emotional, angsty, sweet, and engaging, and I have no trouble recommending it.  *** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***

I loved this book This book is very good but I must confess that I did not like it as much as I loved “My Only Reason”. I know Banks was hurting but it is just that Banks needed to forgive Dallas. Otherwise the story was really great and had me hooked from the beginning.
