Surprisingly my favorite of all these books so far. I didn't come in expecting much since it's a new artist and was supposed to be a little filler between the two volumes but I was WRONG! I love when they actually get into history and how it was rewritten and the "truth" molded. The last couple of issues have put the history on the back burner but this one turned it up to 10. The dialogue was so intense that I was trying my hardest not to look further down the page and spoil anything. Loved this Surprisingly my favorite of all these books so far. Artist Elsa Charretier and colorist Matt Hollingsworth jump in to illustrate The Department of Truth #6. Their styles are a marked change from regular series artist and co-creator Martin Simmonds, however they're fitting for the type of story shown in this issue. We move from a flashback to an ancient scroll. You can read James' full review at Horror DNA by clicking here. Great example of using filler artists to a series' advantage. Elsa Charretier is one of my favorite comics artists and the way she effortlessly switches between noir, children's storybook, and medieval manuscripts is fantastic. I'm also a sucker for alt-history conspiracy stories. Great example of using filler artists to a series' advantage. Radically different art style from Vol 1, with a dive into history and the origins of the struggle between truth and fabrication.

The dramatic change in art and theme put me off, but in the end this was still a great issue.
