Review first published on My Blog. A brief history of Barack Obama from his parents meeting to his inauguration as President. It's fairly simple and not one of the better president histories that we've read recently as it was just too simple and really rah-rah. I voted for him twice so I'm not against him but what I was hoping for was something a bit more balanced in the telling and this wasn't it. Review first published on My Blog. Finally. This is a much better Obama book for younger readers than the others I've looked at. The voice the author chose is straightfoward but eloquent--not condescending or awkward, a problem the other books I've read for this age group both suffered from. It contains real and little-discussed information on Obama, with helpful geographic guides and beautiful illustrations.

My mom read me this book today. I learned all about Barack Obama's childhood and family and how he got to be president. It was exciting. I also liked the picture of Joe Biden and his wife with the Obamas. (Autumn, 5)

I bought this book to share with the first grade classroom that I tutor with. I think it's a great story to teach about the history of our next president. I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a bit of background on Obama to share with children.

This is a really easy read in Spanish. Did I learn anything? He's 6'2". He's the 44th President, I thought he was number 50-something.
