Read it with someone you're destined to love--yourself. Takes you through the various stages of a relationship from infatuation to painful breakup via clever, short, and easily accessible poems. "These are your poems. I only wrote them down," McWilliams says. Honored to have talked to his mother on two occasions after he died and obtained some rare chapbooks he published. I wish I had gotten to speak to him; he died far too soon. Read it with someone you're destined to love--yourself. 5/5 stars: I fell in love with this book! Highly recommend. I found this book at a bargain bookstore for only .75¢ and I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I bookmarked nearly every page. This book does an outstanding job of capturing the high's, low's and in-between's of love. It takes the reader on a journey from the first encounter love to the lows of heartache and the healing found in self-love. This book accurately portrays the cycle of love and loss. It takes the reader on a journey from the first encounter love to the lows of heartache and the healing found in self-love. This book accurately portrays the cycle of love and loss. This is the most insightful and thought-provoking book I have ever read on the topic of love. What I appreciated most in this book was that self-love was written from a man's perspective. It's so refreshing, because in our society today, self-love seems like a luxury that solely belongs to women. McWilliams is someone who understands the art of words and their meaning and finds a way to put them together in the most impactful way. I fell in love with McWilliam's honesty and vulnerability. The way he puts words together is so unique and truly an art form in itself. This is a great example of intentional poetry. From the words he chose to the way he laid each poem on the page, McWilliam's did it intentionally. This is truly someone who not only tried to make meaning out of words but understands the power in each word themselves. Every word in every poem is intentional and impactful. He, in my definition, is a literary genius. I am blown away by his craft. Such an underrated poet. He isn't just someone who writes to make meaning but makes meaning out of words that have meaning in order to create a deeper and more thought-provoking meaning. This book has presented itself as a friend that I can come to at any point of the cycle of love and loss. Wow. This is truly a phenomenal read. "you make flowers of my hours. today was a bouquet." You insire me so. Your innocense and worldliness. Your presence when you're here and your letters when you're not. Your phone calls. Your support. I love you for choosing me. I choose you for loving me. You are as necessary to me as water to fish, air to birds or clichés to my poetry. I can't imagine what I did without you. Oh yes, I remember: I suffered."

A poetry book I bought back in high school on a whim from Goodwill. I have to say, that while I am picky with my poetry, I do love this book. The poems are just wonderful and I absolutely love the formatting of them. Definitely recommend.
