Big girls don’t cry over a spilled chocolate milkshake—they run like crazy. Alex Barrett’s all too “real life” sentence is almost over. She’s spent years being a parent to her siblings—and her flaky mother. What was her reward, other than an empty bed? Nothing. And now that she’s almost free, nothing’s exactly what she plans to do. Okay, so it’s only because she dumped a milkshake all over him. Drew’s meteoric rise to the top of the country charts is fueled by the swooning women who throw themselves at his feet. Alex? She’s different. When their icy paths cross, she doesn’t throw her panties, she beats a hasty retreat. There’s only one way to keep this intriguing lady around long enough to charm her out of those panties: offer her a job she can’t refuse. Drew may be every female’s definition of a fantasy man, but a paycheck and a roll in the hay do not a relationship make. Besides, Alex is tired of living 24/7 for someone else. Even a someone who’s offering her dreams of happily ever after… Warning: Hot and heavy loving; stuff country songs are made of.

I really can't even pinpoint why I like this book so much, but I think it has something to do with the many off the wall moments this couple has throughout this book. Alex (not short for Alexandra or anything girly) is a pet photographer with a family that is a walking Jerry Springer show. Alex has always been the responsible one and works to make sure her brother gets through college and that her nephew has everything he needs. Alex doesn't trust easily after her long time boyfriend/fiancé cheated on her. When she is contacted by a guy off of country music star Drew Hartford's fan board, she is skeptical but when he backs up her story about an incident following the concert she attended she finds she really enjoys their chats and agrees to meet with him. Drew Hartford can't get the woman who bathed him with a chocolate shake following his Ft. Worth concert out of his head so he connects with her on this fan club page but assumes his old childhood nickname to stay incognito. He isn't sure why this woman fascinates him so other than she couldn't get away from him fast enough after the incident. Talking with her makes him want more and so he suggests a meeting in which he intends to come clean about his identity. From the start, I loved the way these two "met" and their online interactions, after they meet in person it is clear there is something between them but when Drew hires Alex to be the band's photographer for a few weeks Alex puts on the brakes and goes into business mode. They had a lot of ups and down and there were some confused feelings on both sides, but one thing was clear throughout this book their feelings ran deep and while it took some time they did eventually figure it out. Outrageously fun, completely entertaining, smart and sexy The Cowboy Plan has been a favorite of mine for years and I still enjoy it every time I re-read it.

I loved the beginning of this story, the fun way the main characters meet, their instant attraction and we were off to a flying start. Then I don't know what happened, the writing lost some of it's zest and it was somewhat confusing. Secondary characters that could have added so much depth to the story were just left to flounder. Towards the end it got back on track and then...it just ended without too much fanfare. Just flat...blah. This was a sweet, funny, and very enjoyable story. It sucks you right in and makes you care about the characters from the first few pages. I had a hard time putting it down. Even though the publisher is Samhain, it is actually rather vanilla. It could have used a bit more spice in my opinion, but it's still quite a sweet love story. And who hasn't dreamed at least once about capturing the attention of their favorite recording star? I enjoyed this one- it's a quick, sweet read. 3 1/2 stars This was a sweet, funny, and very enjoyable story. It sucks you right in and makes you care about the characters from the first few pages. This book had appeal. Country singers and a 'normal girl' check. Cute way they met, check. The promise of a great plot. Check. It had everything that I was looking for but it sort of fell apart around the middle and came off as a confused mess. Characters that weren't needed were added for no reason. The story just seemed to limp along. It's a shame because it really could have been a great story. It's still ok for a read but it doesn't grab you and sink its hook into you like other books. This was a really good story, really cute. I liked the hero and heroine, and the secondary characters were fully fleshed out.

It was okay. Celia runs into Drew, a rock star in a burger joint. Drew and Alex are interesting but the other characters are annoying!
