It's not well written or organize, but inside you'll find some of the most fascinating things you never knew about the mountains, cliffs & boulders in many areas in the south & southwestern U.S. Kenworthy first explains how he obtained through Vatican records the details regarding Spanish exploration, location of mines and the "King's Fifth" portion of any gold, silver, or gems recoverd in the New World. This book introduces you to how the Spanish explorers and engineers literally reshaped the mountainsides & trails to leave physical landmarks, pointers & signposts. Apparently there were strict universal rules on how this was to be done. Once you know the principles regarding the symbols & shapes, you can begin searching out landmarks anywhere the Spanish may have traveled. Anyone who travels the U.S. and enjoys the outdoors will find this fascinating -- it will open your eyes! Much of what Kenworthy describes & explains, I have located & explored personally in Arizona, Nevada & California. It's become a hobby of mine to spot Spanish markers, trails & such. You don't have to be a treasure hunter to enjoy what this book will teach you. For those who are into the "hunt", this is an important primer. It's widely believed that Kenworthy did not include much of what he learned from the Spanish records, and in some cases left key things out. Some experienced hunters would even say he intentionally misrepresents a few things, letting you get near a treasure site, but not explain the details of precise location & recovery. The book is a short read as it's very thin, and not well written. In fact it pretty much looks like a coloring book. As with all of Kenworthy's books, the text is written in all caps, which is a little annoying. The photos do help, along with the text, to teach you how to spot the real thing & distinquish it from what are typically natural formations among the rocks. In spite of the amateurish publishing, this book does contain some very unique information, hence the rather expensive purchase price if you can find a copy.
