Taming the Montana Millionaire is a romance novel by Teresa Southwick. Years ago, bad boy Marlon Cates kissed Haley Anderson, promised more and then disappeared. It made her wary of getting involved with any man, and she’s never forgiven him. Now millionaire Marlon turns up at her teen community centre volunteering to help. But commitment is something she’s sure Marlon doesn’t have. This is a rather drawn-out romance with cardboard characters: Haley is too perfect to be real, and much more wary Taming the Montana Millionaire is a romance novel by Teresa Southwick. Ho hum.

***Slight Details*** I didn't really take to TAMING THE MONTANA MILLIONAIRE like I thought I would from reading the back. The heat was not nearly as fierce as I was expecting. Haley Anderson had to come home her first year of college at the death of her mother and raise her younger brother and sister. Now six years later, she's opening ROOTS a place for teens to come with life gets hard. A place she wished she and her family could have had. The heat was not nearly as fierce as I was expecting. Haley Anderson had to come home her first year of college at the death of her mother and raise her younger brother and sister. Now six years later, she's opening ROOTS a place for teens to come with life gets hard. A place she wished she and her family could have had. It feels like giving back to the community for all their support they gave Haley through the rough transition in her life. Of course, Marlon Cates has to come back to town as she's struggling with getting help to open ROOTS by her set deadline. With his offers to help, Haley turns him down, remembering the kiss and the call that didn't come afterwards. Now, she's determined not to let him break her heart again, but when he proves worthy in his help and he needs this to complete his community service hours she gives in. Marlon is facing hours for his multiple speeding tickets that has revoked his driving license but after that, he's back to his LA company that he's contemplating selling. What neither expected, is that kiss to still be so prominent between them. As they take in a runaway kid, they spend more and more time together. With her limited experience, Haley decides to enjoy the moment while she can. Except more comes from it than expected. The ending was rushed and just didn't have that connecting feel.

This book was a fun and fast read. The romance in it was a bit chaste compared to other Silhouette Special Edition stories I've read. I liked reading about Haley's involvement with the teen center, though I don't particularly think it would be a thriving venture in real life. It was nice to see Haley and Marlon taking the time to know each other. I thought the characters were well-written and their interactions were realistic. I think most of Haley's reactions to Marlon's actions were sound, but I had a problem with her grudge. When she was 16 (I believe) Marlon kissed her during a fair, because he thought she was the girl running the kissing booth. Both felt something in that kiss and, after getting her number, he promised to call her. He never did call though. So for the last six years (yes, SIX YEARS) Haley has kept this intense grudge about how Marlon broke her heart with that one kiss and lack of phone calls. I could've understood her grudge if he'd had sex with her and disappeared without a trace, but ONE KISS? I thought it was a bit unreasonable - especially when (view spoiler)[we find out that the reason Marlon never called was because Haley's father figure told him to stay away from the girl and pretty much threatened him. I really didn't think I'd like this book as much as I did because I generally stay away from Harlequin titles with the words "millionaire" or "billionaire" in them. Haley is so double-standard in her thinking that she doesn't really deserve Marlon. She wants Marlon to be reliable when she up-and-up lies about not remembering their first kiss and not being entirely truthful about her lack-of-sex life. TS turns it around and makes you like her by the end.
