Didn’t read this from cover to cover and ended up skipping through most of it honestly but for the movies I was interested in it was great and the intro was cool

Another John Kenneth Muir, Gratefully Received I adore the work of Mr. Muir. His whole series of the horror films of the 1970's up to the '90's is nothing short of amazing. The 70's represented outlandish freedoms and unbelievable extremes. The 80's grew up with lessons from the past, experiments in filming, and beginning of remakes. This volume is no different and more inclusive than the others in taking in the social and political movements of its time. While the 90's were not a favorite time of my mine when it came to horror movies, I know a good large number of the films, the actors emerging and those placing cameos, the block busters that never quite it. The price, as usual, for a Kindle...is hefty, but what you see in it is almost priceless. You are invited to check out Mr. Muir's work and this is definitely a good volume. For all who love horror films, make his acquaintance.

It took me three months, but I've now read every word in this book and have hundreds of horror movie plot lines from the 1990s embedded in my brain! This reference book is unusual in that every review is written by the author (who has also written books on horror movies of the 1970s and 1980s). Nicely researched with complete cast and crew information, quotes from external reviews, and photographs, the book also features some entertaining appendices and a very nice index (information professionals always check out the index). The 1990s are known for not being a very strong horror movie decade, and while there are plenty of one star reviews in here, there are also some four star gems to check out. Definitely worthwhile for a horror movie fan.

Another excellent book by John Kenneth Muir While the 90s were probably one of the worst decades to be a horror fan, with some exceptions (Halloween H20, Sleepy Hollow, etc.), this book does an excellent job of reviewing the films and contextualizing the them and the period of time they were released in.

I actually liked his book about 80's horror films better - in this book I think he tries too hard to add depth and political meaning to some pretty stupid movies, or tries to shoehorn films not really considered horror into the horror genre.
